Royal mummies will be transferred to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization

22 Royal mummies will be transferred to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in the coming few weeks in a grande parade from their current home in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir square. The royal male mummies that are set to be moved are Seqenere Ra, Ahmose I,  Amenhotep I, II, III,  Ramses II, III, IV, V, VI, IX and  Thutmose I, II, III, Siptah, Merenptah and Sety I, II The four female mummies, will be queens Hastshepsut, Ahmose-Nefetari, Ti, and Ahmose-Meret Amoun.

This has been decided upon after moving their respective coffins to the new location and preparing them for their arrival. All selected mummies were carefully scanned and prepared for the move for the past 14 months since they have been in the same location receiving visitors for almost 120 years. The parade is expected to receive huge international recognition and was postponed until the Tahrir square renovation was completed.
